904L stainless steel coil is a non-stabilized austenitic stainless steel material with low carbon content. This high alloy stainless steel is added with copper to improve its resistance to strong reducing acids, such as sulphuric acid. The steel is also resistant to stress corrosion cracking and crevice corrosion. Coil 904L is non-magnetic, and offers excellent formability, toughness and weldability.
904L coil contains high amounts of expensive ingredients, such as molybdenum and nickel. Today, most of the applications that employ grade 904L coils are replaced by low-cost duplex 2205 stainless steel coils.

904L stainless steel coil is a low-carbon, high-nickel, molybdenum super austenitic stainless steel coil.
The alloy coil is mainly used for the manufacture of various kinds of chemical equipment, storage tanks and heat exchangers.

Good welding performance with the help of gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), submerged arc welding (SAW) etc., can effectively prevent cracking during welding process.
